OUR STORY

It began with stones.

Long before Atelier Eldr existed, we were already looking for stones.

As children, we both collected them. During every holiday, our eyes would naturally drift towards the ground — to riverbeds, beaches and paths.

Always looking for something special.

A colour.

A shape.

A stone that, for some reason, needed to come home with us.

Without knowing how to describe it at the time, stones had always been part of our story.

Learning to look again.

Atelier Eldr grew from our shared love of stones, landscapes, history and making.

But it also grew from something that has become increasingly important to us: our relationship with the living world around us.

Together, we have been finding our way back into a deeper connection with the earth.

With the seasons.

With landscapes.

With plants, animals, water and stone.

Not as something separate from us, but as a world of which we are part.

We are nature too.

We have become used to speaking about “nature” as though it begins somewhere outside of us.

As though there is a boundary between the human world and everything else.

We do not see it that way.

We are part of nature too.

We live among other lives, other rhythms and other ways of being.

And the more we learn to pay attention, the more we realise how much there is to learn from the living world of which we are already a part.

A world of relationships.

We do not see the world around us as a collection of lifeless things waiting to be used or transformed.

A stone is not simply a material.

A river is not only water.

A landscape is not merely a backdrop.

Everything exists in relationship.

Everything has its own history, presence and place within a larger whole.

When we find a stone, we do not see it as the beginning of our story.

It was already here.

It has already travelled.

It has already been shaped by forces beyond us.

We simply meet somewhere along the way.

Atelier Eldr

From this way of seeing, Atelier Eldr was born.

We work with found stones and silver, but for us, the process does not begin with a fixed design.

It begins with an encounter.

We look.

We listen.

We respond.

Sometimes, a stone almost entirely determines what emerges.

Sometimes, a piece begins with a mark, a trace, a story or a form.

But we always try to leave space for what is already there.

MEET · LISTEN · RESPOND

It is not only how we work.

It is also how we try to move through the world.
